In January the chosen mathematician was Evariste Galois.
Despite the fact that they contributed
extremely important to their scientific research in various fields of
mathematics, many mathematicians did not receive any recognition during their
lifetime. Despite their talent, all their lives they struggled with
misunderstanding and challenging the environment, only to be celebrated and
respected as great geniuses after death.
Such was the life of Evarist Galois, perhaps the most important
mathematician of the 19th century.
No one in the history of mathematics, before
or after him, has achieved such great scientific results in his early youth. As
much as the value of his work was, so tragic was his life that ended at the age
of 21. He lost his life in a duel, and the reasons are still unknown.
In his short lifetime, he brought, probably
the most important, group theory and thus laid the foundations for the further
development of algebra.
His talent was so misunderstood that even the
greatest mathematicians of that time could not understand this theory, so they
defined it as wrong. Only 40 years after his death, this theory was accepted.Poster work
We made a Kahoot quiz about this mathematician. You can find it here.
